Uintah High School students and parents:Today, Jan. 26, Uintah High School reached the threshold set by the state for a school outbreak. The high school is reporting 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

Uintah School District is implementing the state's "Test to Stay" protocol at UHS.

UHS students will participate in remote learning on Wednesday, Jan. 27, and Thursday, Jan. 28, while the school undergoes deep cleaning. To be marked present, students must be logged in during class time. Friday, Jan. 29, will follow the normal online learning schedule established for this school year.

All students enrolled in concurrent courses at Utah State University Uintah Basin or UBTech should contact their instructor to find out if they should attend classes in person.

A negative COVID-19 test is required to return to in-person classes at UHS on Monday, Feb. 1. Voluntary rapid COVID-19 antigen testing will be provided for free to all UHS students and staff by the district on Wednesday and Thursday at the following times:

Wednesday, Jan. 27

◾️ 8 a.m. to noon for individuals whose last name starts with the letters A through L

◾️ noon to 4 p.m. for individuals whose last name starts with the letters M through Z

Thursday, Jan. 28

◾️ 8 a.m. to noon for individuals whose last name starts with the letters M through Z

◾️ noon to 4 p.m. for individuals whose last name starts with the letters A through L

Testing will take place in the big gym. Individuals should enter through the east side of the gym and exit on the west side. Masks are required inside the school. Please avoid congregating inside and outside the school. Teachers have been asked to excuse students from remote learning during the specific time they are being tested.

Testing of minors requires consent from a parent or guardian. A consent form is being sent home today with all UHS students and is also linked to this information on the district's website under the News tab.

Students who test negative for COVID-19 will return to in-person learning on Monday, Feb. 1. They will be provided with proof of their negative test result at the time of testing and should bring it with them to school.

Students who test positive or who decline to be tested will attend classes remotely for a period of at least 10 calendar days. They can return to school in-person on Monday, Feb. 8. Free grab-n-go meals are available for these students at the established locations and times listed on the district's website.

🔻Testing Exceptions🔻

◾️ Individuals who were tested on Monday, Jan. 25, as part of the school's Test to Play protocol are not required to test again at this time. Students participating in extracurricular activities (sports, theatre, etc.) should contact their coach or advisor for information about testing protocols, practice and rehearsal schedules, and upcoming games or performances.

◾️ Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days are exempted from testing. They must provide proof of their positive test result, including the date of the positive test, to the school nurse.

We would like to inform you of the upcoming Planned Power Outage. This outage will take place tomorrow, (Tuesday) January 26, 2021 on the West Side of Roosevelt, starting at 5:00 a.m. thru 5:30 a.m. During this maintenance outage, we will update critical infrastructure components in order to improve our system. According to our records, this will impact approximately 812 members.

You should have received a courtesy phone call if this outage will impact you. Just as a reminder, these calls are submitted based on the current phone number that you have in our system. If you have recently changed your phone number, please make sure that you inform the MLEA front office of that change by calling 435-722-5400.

Planned power outages are sometimes necessary when we make improvements to the power system for our members. Most of the time, we can do this with no impact to the members. Occasionally, we need to shut off your power so our crews can work safely. We are committed to keeping you and our employees safe. We know being without power is inconvenient and we appreciate your patience during outages.
