Robbie Williams has revealed that he has “written loads of songs” and is feeling “full of purpose and loving life”.

The ‘Angels’ singer made the comments during a new interview with Virgin Radio, where he insisted that he is feeling more “ambitious” than ever before, and has written a heap of new material.

Williams said: “I’ve got loads of plans. I’ve written loads of songs, I’ve got my film [Better Man] at the end of this year and I’m doing Hyde Park in the summer. I have never been busier, I’ve never been as ambitious as I am right now. I am full of purpose and I am loving life.”

The new material will be his first since his dance side project, Lufthaus, shared ‘Visions, Vol.1’ last year, and his greatest hits compilation ‘XXV’, which he dropped back in 2022.

At the time of writing, specifics about the upcoming music remain vague, although the biopic the singer mentioned is being made by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey and is due out at the end of the year.

The comments shared by the former Take That member arrive after he shed light on his history of self-harm and depression, and encouraged people to be more “careful” about the comments they make towards those in the public eye.

They also arrive shortly after he shared his views on the modern music scene, claiming that it was “boring”.

“How boring is the music scene right now? Im not attacking the music itself. im just lamenting the death of friction, danger, personality,” he wrote on Instagram recently. “I’ll admit I’ve vanilled myself into a corner trying to chase what’s gone. I get it everyone’s scared. No one knows what you’ll say that will get you cancelled.

“No one knows what you’ve already said or written that will end you. So many people to offend. (sic)”

He also went on to state how he wants to put some of the energy “back into my musical life”, as well as share praise for The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, who he regards as one of the few musicians left who are willing to push the boundaries.

“Matt Healy is the only commercially viable Pop/Rock star that I can see who is willing to be something other than beige,” he wrote. “I really like Matt [because] he’s unhinged, super smart, super talented and willing to upset. Upsetting for a cause. The cause being a complicated inner life a rebellious streak and boredom.

“I’ve gotta get some of that energy back in my musical life. Like I say ‘so many people to offend’ I hope I have time to fit them all in. It’s time to take the piss again… and im looking forward to it.”

One such instance of Healy’s “willing to upset” and “upsetting for a cause” that Williams alluded to saw The 1975 getting banned from Malaysia while performing at the Good Vibes Festival in the Southeast Asian country last year.

In other Robbie Williams news, it was confirmed that his dance side project Lufthaus – which sees him join forces with Flynn Francis and Tim Metcalfe – would be making their UK live debut at Creamfields 2024.

More recently, he has recalled the occasion when a badly-received joke on X/Twitter made him reconsider his use of the social media platform.
