Liam Gallagher has gone back on his claims that Oasis are currently recording a new album, telling fans “it was a laugh”.

Since the Britpop icons announced their initial reunion shows earlier this year, which will see them play live together for the first time since 2009, Liam has been teasing that there is more than just a tour on the horizon.

In September, when one fan asked “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???”, Liam replied: “Yep it’s already finished.” He also responded to a fan asking if a new record was “in the air”, to which he said, “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air”.

Then, earlier this month, he told fans on Twitter/X that he was “blown away” by the material Noel had written for the record. A comment he made back in April also resurfaced after the comeback announcement, in which he suggested Oasis would be recording a new album in November.

While Liam is known for being light-hearted and flippant on X/Twitter, and his tweets fall well short of any official confirmation, he does have form in leaking clues to the news before it becomes public knowledge, having initially teased the band’s reunion and their UK and Ireland 2025 tour dates before both were officially confirmed.

But, now, he’s dismissing his earlier teasers, saying there’s “no Oasis album in the making”. Responding to a fan news account that claimed the brothers were “working intently” on a new album, Liam said: “I was fucking joking remember them and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”

Then, responding to a fan who said the reunion is “enough”, Liam wrote: “Exactly people always want more let’s just get in a big stadium and go ape shit and see what happens after that you with me or what”. He also replied to a fan asking “why not?”, writing: “I’m busy”.

Fans are still hopeful though, given the history of Liam’s tweets coming to fruition. This includes him mentioning the photoshoot he was doing with Noel ahead of the return announcementand hinting at the band playing some big Manchester shows, before anything was made official.

More recently, he also teased that both Richard Ashcroft and Cast could potentially support Oasis, both of which again ended up becoming official.

So far, the Oasis reunion tour includes huge stadium gigs in the UK and Ireland, followed by a string of dates in North America. They’ll then return for two extra dates at London’s Wembley Stadium in late September, before heading to Australia for shows in Melbourne and Sydney and then playing further dates in South America.

NME exclusively revealed that Oasis would be heading to South America and Australia in a report last month. The article also listed upcoming appearances in other international territories, including South Korea and Japan.

The band previously confirmed that their 2025 UK and Ireland dates would be the only European shows of their comeback tour. They later told fans that plans were “underway” for further performances around the globe.

However, Oasis have ruled out a headline performance at Glastonbury 2025 and said they won’t be appearing at any other festivals next summer. Liam and Noel have shot down rumours of a return to Knebworth in 2026 too.
