Entertainment world pays tribute to Amen’s Casey Chaos: “Rest In Peace, my rock and roll brother”

Tributes have been paid following the death of Amen frontman Casey Chaos, who has passed away at the age of 59.

The singer’s death was announced in a statement from Brian Perera, founder of his record label, Cleopatra Records on December 21. No cause of death has been mentioned.

“With heartfelt sadness, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Casey Chaos,” Perera wrote. “I had the privilege of working with Casey during his unforgettable live performance with Christian Death at the American Legion Hall back in 1993. Walking into the hall with my good friend Matt Green and my wife, Yvonne, was an experience I’ll never forget—especially seeing Nicolas Cage sitting front-row center, completely captivated.

“Casey wasn’t just an extraordinary musician—he truly lived and breathed the lifestyle,” he continued, “May he rest in peace alongside Rozz Williams and the many tortured souls we admire and respect.”

Numerous figures from the entertainment world have shared tributes. “With a heavy heart and a tear in my eye I must announce that we lost another legend today,” said Amen bassist John Fahnestock.

“I’ve lost two legendary frontmen in my career and Casey has now also passed on. It’s was an absolute honor to have been in Amen and witnessed without a doubt the genius that was Casey Chaos.

“He was a force unlike no other before him, a true artist, an uncompromising soul and a true punk rock icon! This is hard for me. I sit here going over all the memories. Just speechless.”

“My heart has been heavy today because we lost one of my brothers and our friend Casey Chaos. Rest In Peace, my rock and roll brother,” said TV host and DJ Matt Pinfield.

Journalist Sammy Jones added: “Really sad to hear the news about Casey Chaos. I did a couple of interviews with him back in the day, which turned into really long, sometimes deep conversations about life. Fond memories of him, and his shows. Another lesson in making every day count. RIP Casey.

“Rest in peace Casey Chaos,” added journalist John Duran. “His band Amen had a blazing row about cunnilingus while I was interviewing them and split up in front of me. It was pretty awkward but I appreciated them giving me authentic things to write about.”

Amen was such a great band.

I caught them live a couple times back in the early ‘00s. Once opening for Slipknot.

Amen released four studio albums: their 1994 debut ‘Slave’, ‘Amen’ in 1999, ‘We Have Come for Your Parents’ in 2000 and ‘Death Before Musick’ in 2004.

In 2001, they played the seventh NME tour alongside JJ72, Alfie and Starsailor.

Throughout his career, Chaos also played in Christian Death and black metal supergroup Scum.

In 2014, Amen returned to the studio to record a new album, but it wasn’t finished in time and went on to perform at Knotfest in support of Slipknot. Then, in late 2019, Chaos resumed recording the album, before it was halted again due to the COVID pandemic. The album remains unfinished.
