Among the other acts playing the festival are the afternoon special guests Kaiser Chiefs, Rizzle Kicks and Natasha Bedingfield, as well as Fat Dog, Maribou State, Nelly Furtado, London Grammar, Wet Leg, Franz Ferdinand and Bob Vylan.
Boardmasters claims to be “the only place to check out both the biggest names in music and top-of-their-game international pro surf talent across two spectacular locations on the Cornish coast”.
This will be the first Boardmasters since the controversial 2024 edition, where a “massive” crowd surge on the site “left a small number of attendees injured”, with a DJ set cancelled as a result. The festival later confirmed that seven festivalgoers had to be taken to hospital and the council launched a formal investigation into what happened.
It was described by police at the time as an “isolated incident”, and it was confirmed that “none of the injuries [were] considered serious”.
The incident occurred after Boardmasters got permission to increase its capacity by thousands this year, bringing the attendance to an estimated 58,000 people. Devon & Cornwall Police also reported that 11 people had been arrested at the festival, with charges relating to drug offences, sexual offences and assault.
Earlier this month, Boardmasters confirmed that next year’s event will have security personnel in “crowd and behaviour management positions” increased by 20 per cent.
In addition, there will be 25 more entry lanes to allow deeper searches of visitors’ belongings, 25 per cent more watchtowers manned 24 hours a day, and a 50 per cent increase in high-visibility security patrols day and night.
The festival has also brought in numerous other changes based on feedback from attendees, including an increase in the number of Wi-Fi hotspots in both the arena and campsites and a ‘chilled’ campsite with an 11pm noise curfew. They have added that further updates will be issued in due course.
Central Cee, meanwhile, recently announced details of his own 2025 world tour, to support his long-awaited debut album ‘Can’t Rush Greatness’, which was released this month. See the full list of dates here and find your UK tickets here, US tickets here and Australian tickets here.
In a four-star review of the LP, NME shared: “Central Cee could easily remain hidden behind his signature mystique, but instead tells the story of a boy turned man all while on the world’s stage. No smoke and mirrors, the album is authentically Cench every step of the way.”
