Drake gives fan $20,000 after beating them at rock-paper-scissors

Drake gifted a fan $20,000 after he beat them at rock-paper-scissors during a recent show in Australia.

The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker is currently in the middle of his first Australia and New Zealand tour in eight years, a 14-date jaunt that will wrap up on March 16 in Auckland.

So far, the tour has made headlines for swarms of fans asking the rapper for money, after he gifted a considerable sum to a fan who was holding a sign that shared she was 20 weeks pregnant during a show at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

A clip of the moment showed the moment in which he told security to “get her out of there” and upgrade her to VIP and give her “like $30,000”.

Since then, fans have taken to bringing signs asking Drake for money, leading to a viral photo many are calling “dystopian”, that sees the rapper standing before a sea of requests for cash.

It’s not stopped him from opening his pockets to fans, though. During another show in Sydney on Wednesday night (February 19), he scouted out a fan with a sign reading: “Rock-paper-scissors to buy my dad a birthday car.”

“I like this sign right here,” Drake said upon noticing it. “You ready? … This my game, boy.” Drake ended up beating the fan in round one, but gave him another chance, telling him: “I’ll give you one more. Think about it. 1, 2, 3.”

After a statement in the next two rounds, Drake ended up winning again in round four, which drew a laugh from the crowd. Luckily for the fan, Drake’s hooked him up with some money anyway. “I’m still gonna give you $20,000 so you can buy your dad a car,” he said, before adding: “Don’t ever fuck with me on rock-paper-scissors, though. I will win.”

The ‘Nice For What’ rapper is no stranger to gifting a few lucky concert attendees with money. Last March, Drake gifted a pregnant woman at his gig $25,000 after she asked the rapper to be her “rich baby daddy.”

Back in 2023, while on tour, he gave $50,000 to two fans on separate occasions. One was to a fan who held a sign that read he had spent all his “furniture money” on tickets for his Las Vegas shows and the other was a man who had just been dumped.

In other news, Drake was recently announced as this year’s Wireless Festival headliner, which will see him take over the prime spot at all three nights of the annual London music bash.

The event will return to London’s Finsbury Park from July 11 to 13 and to mark the occasion, Drake will become the first artist to headline a festival for three nights with three different setlists.

The shows will be the rapper’s first UK performances in six years, and he will be joined across the weekend by artists including Burna Boy, PartyNextDoor, Summer Walker and Vybz Kartel. Tickets for the event are on sale here.

Drake also released his collaborative album ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ with PartyNextDoor on Valentine’s Day (February 14), a collection of sultry R&B-infused songs that sees the rapper address his feud with Kendrick Lamar and tensions with Future, Metro Boomin and Rick Ross.

It is Drake’s first record since 2023’s ‘For All The Dogs‘, which was given a three-star review by NME. “In the hours shortly before the album dropped, Drake announced that he would take a break from music to focus on his health… Hopefully he returns revitalised and renewed, because ‘For All The Dogs’ – his third solo LP in as many years – not only feels tiring, but sounds tired too.”

Kendrick, meanwhile, headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 10, where he took several shots at Drake — even poking fun at him for suing Universal Music Group for promoting ‘Not Like Us’. “I want to play their favourite song but you know they like to sue,” he quipped before playing the song for one second. He would eventually play the song in full later in the set.

Drake’s father Dennis Graham also recently commented on Lamar‘s 2025 Grammy wins for ‘Not Like Us’. “I don’t care enough about that shit,” he said. “That ain’t got nothing to do with me. All the best to him. I don’t do that bullshit.”
