Massive Attack have been announced as the final headliner for London’s LIDO Festival 2025. Find all the details below.

The Bristol trip-hop duo – comprising Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja and Grant ‘Daddy G’ Marshall – are due to top the bill at the inaugural event on Friday June 6. It’ll mark their first festival appearance in the capital in nine years.

As well as their live show (designed in collaboration between Del Naja, United Visual Artists and documentation Adam Curtis), Massive Attack will continue their pioneering work with Act 1.5 to rapidly decarbonise live music events.

With their ongoing partnership with clean energy provider Ecotricity, the group’s LIDO set will be 100% powered by battery, significantly reducing carbon emissions and local air pollution.

Support is set to come from Air, Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist as FORENSICS, and Tirzah, with many more still to be confirmed.

The bill-topping gig will follow Massive Attack’s Act 1.5 concert in Bristol last summer, which served as the UK’s biggest low-carbon gig ever, and their Act 1.5 “climate action accelerator” shows in Liverpool.

In a statement, Del Naja explained: “To present London’s first ever 100% battery-powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us.

“History shows it’s often the combination of art and science that overcomes the greatest challenges we face, so it’s good to see LIDO take learnings from our Act 1.5 event last year and apply those technologies to where they see emissions coming from.

“Clean productions beginning this journey to normalisation is good news for everyone, but especially for music fans that come to festivals and the local communities that live around them.”
Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and The Alchemist, who are set to release an album together under the name FORENSICS, said: “FORENSICS is more than the name of an album, it’s descriptive of a new approach to delivering art, bringing together the experience of musical content with fashion, visual art, technology and community.

“The approach foments an intimate bond with the artists’ core audience, delivering an experience that resonates on multiple levels.”
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals, AEG Presents, commented: “Big changes require both courage and determination, and I cannot speak highly enough of Massive Attack and their team for embracing the challenge of launching this important initiative.

“AEG was fortunate to collaborate with Massive Attack on the Act 1.5 event in Bristol last summer, which set the standard and inspired our team to continue the work they have started at LIDO.”

He continued: “Massive Attack has demonstrated that there is a better way to operate for the future of both our planet and our industry.

“LIDO represents the next step towards a broader adoption of industry-leading sustainability principles across AEG European Festivals, all while continuing to bring the world’s biggest artists and the best production to deliver incredible experiences for fans at our festivals.”

Tickets for Massive Attack at LIDO Festival 2025 go on general sale at 10am GMT this Friday (February 21) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. A LIDO pre-sale begins at the same time on Thursday (20).

LIDO Festival will also feature headline sets from Charli XCX, London Grammar and Jamie xx. Additionally, LIDO is due to host the new London leg of Outbreak Festival – which will be headlined by Turnstile.

During an interview with NME in late 2024, Massive Attack spoke about their ongoing efforts to tackle the climate crisis, and revealed why they turned down the chance to play Coachella 2025. They also discussed plans to release new music this year, and their continued eco-friendly approach to performing live shows.

“We do have some new music which we’ve been sitting on for four years… Hopefully we’re going to be able to release it next year and do some gigs,” Del Naja said. “Obviously we’ve set a standard for ourselves now [with Act 1.5], and we’re going to stick with it. To get given that Race to Zero artist recognition. We’ll stick with it.”
