PENTAGON‘s Kino has teased his upcoming solo record, which he says will be “the most honest album in my life”.
PENTAGON singer Kino recently spoke to Billboard, during which he discussed the themes of his forthcoming solo record and what it means to him on a personal level. Kino revealed that his recently released singles ‘Everglow’ and ‘Skyfall’ are the first tastes of the new album.
“I don’t want to show Kino the celebrity. I want to show the human Kang Hyeong-gu. I think that I cannot be defined by one person: I have a lot of emotions and personality in my mind. But I’m just like a human like everyone: I fail, I regret, I fear, I cry, I smile,” he told the outlet.
Kino also revealed that he is “planning a lot of things for this year” on the solo front, with the most important being the album. “I’m writing the songs, and as I told you, I am still figuring out who I am. I think this will be the most honest album in my life. It’s very hard to be brave, but I’m challenging myself to be an artist who can explore and reach the next future,” he shared.
The PENTAGON singer also revealed that the as-yet-untitled album “will be totally different [in terms of] the genres and styles of music.” He added: “I’m working with a lot of different artists at this moment – maybe some who fans might know, some from totally different scenes – but one spoiler is ‘electronic sound.’”
Kino’s upcoming record will be the follow-up to his May 2024 mini-album ‘If This is Love, I Want a Refund’. That record featured lead single ‘Broke My Heart’ with American singer Lay Bankz, and marked his first release since he parted ways with longtime label CUBE Entertainment in late 2023.
