It is unclear if Billy Corgan and The Machines Of God will be relaseing any new music soon. Corgan previously relased three solo albums – 2005’s ‘TheFutureEmbrace’, 2017’s ‘Ogilala’ and 2019’s ‘Cotillions’. He also relased one album as part of the supergroup Zwan which was 2003’s ‘Mary Star of the Sea’.

Along with the tour announcement, the Smashing Pumpkins have also revealed the details of the long-awaited and reconstituted release of the 2000 concept albums ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ and its companion ‘Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music’ which have been extensively remixed and remastered.

Corgan’s Madame Zuzu’s tea shop in Highland Park, IL will exclusively offer this expansive 80-song box set; featuring a 48-track ‘MACHINA’ plus an additional 32 bonus tracks of demos, outtakes, and live performances, marking the first time these two records will officially be united. Additionally, the band will also release a 16-song reissue of the original ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ vinyl on August 22. Pre-orders will commence on June 27.

The announcement of the “A Road To Zero” tour comes after The Smashing Pumpkins’ recent announcment of  ‘A Night Of Mellon Collie And Infinite Sadness’ which will see the group return to their hometown of Chicago for a run of huge orchestral shows at the Lyric Opera of Chicago where Corgan and co will joined by the venue’s acclaimed house orchestra and chorus for “a completely new, sonic and visual experience” of their seminal third album.

Speaking to NME last month about ‘Mellon Collie’ turning 30, Corgan shared: “We are working with the parent label to possibly put out some kind of special edition. I am announcing that I’m doing some solo dates and hope to honour the album as part of that. There’s some other stuff but I can’t talk about just yet.

“It’s weird because I can’t believe it’s been 30 years. I’m really excited, but at the same time, I’m like ‘What happened over these last 30 years?’”

Later this summer the Smashing Pumpkins are set to perform a massive show at Gunnersbury Park with Skunk Anansie and White Lies as special guests. Speaking about that gig, Corgan said: “The nice thing about playing all these years, especially together, is you now know how to handle those bigger moments. I’m really proud that this particular line-up of the band knows how to rise to those occasions. Whereas when I was young, I would look at those gigs and almost feel intimidated.

“Now, I look at those gigs and I want to rub my hands together because it’s so exciting. It’s a chance to create a one-of-a-kind moment in your life and the audience wants it. They want to see you at your peak and that pressure and feeling is magical when it works.”

In other news, the ‘Today’ singer recently welcomed his third child with wife Chloé Mendel Corgan.
