JoJo Siwa is charging fans $900 (£696) to “help” her set up the show for her upcoming North American tour via a VIP ticket package.

The singer, dancer and former Dance Moms star is due to head out on the road this summer for a string of concerts across the US and Canada. It comes in support of her 2024 EP, ‘Guilty Pleasure’.

In addition to general tickets, Siwa is selling three VIP packages: ‘Dream Guest VIP’ (costing over $900 per person), ‘Ultimate VIP’ ($400/£309) and ‘VIP Meet & Greet’ ($200+/£167+).

The perks of the ‘Dream Guest’ option include being able to “watch the show from the designated audience area of your choice”, an “exclusive invitation to JoJo’s live show setup before [a] Q&A and soundcheck with JoJo”, and a “pre-show meet and greet and photo opportunity” with the singer.

Curiously, Siwa is also asking her paying fans to “help [her] put together the show with song selection input”.

During an interview with Access Hollywood, she described the ‘Dream Guest’ option as the “most exclusive” package (via Complex).

Siwa explained: “You are actually going to get to come during while we’re loading in the show, and you’re gonna get to kind of help us set it up and make sure things are right and test out the drum with me or the DJ booth with me.”

However, the artist has faced some criticism for asking fans to “basically pay to work” at the concerts (via The Independent). Another person wrote: “If I’m helping you set up then I should be getting in for free Lmaoo!!!”

The Wanted‘s Nathan Sykes wrote: “I think JoJo Siwa is amazing but I’m not sure the idea of helping crew set up a show would stick for my VIP package moving forward.” Someone else said: “JoJo Siwa having a $900 VIP ticket package where you can help set up the stage… girl what kinda shit is that 😭.”

Last September, the Polish Eurovision committee denied Siwa’s claims that she was “in talks” to represent the country at the 2025 song contest – which takes place in Basel, Switzerland this May.

Meanwhile, KISS’ Gene Simmons has caused a similar stir among fans by selling the experience of being his “personal assistant and band roadie”.

This comes as part of his ‘Ultimate Gene Simmons Experience’ tour package – which costs an eye-watering $12,495 (£9,647), in addition to the original ticket price. However, a signed bass guitar that was previously used during a KISS rehearsal has also been thrown in.

Simmons has since defended the move, saying: “When I was a kid and went to see shows, I was always curious, ‘What’s it like when they’re in a hotel? What’s it like when the stage is set up? What’s it like being onstage when they’re performing and seeing the audience from the stage?’”

He continued: “I decided, ‘You know what, nobody’s ever done it. Why not open the idea to be my personal roadie for the day?’ You meet at the hotel where you have breakfast together or, you know, whatever floats your boat.”
