Skrillex performed at Ultra for the first time in 10 years and brought out a number of special guests. Check out footage below.
The DJ and producer – real name Sonny Moore – took to the stage for the Miami festival over the weekend (March 29) and broke out some throwback favourites and some newer tracks.
It marked his first set at the event in a decade and saw him play for 90 minutes – breaking out classic tracks like ‘Where Are Ü Now’, ‘Bangarang’, ‘Scare Monsters And Nice Sprites’ and more.
Alongside numerous newer tracks from his catalogue, including ‘In Da Getto’, ‘Fine Day Anthem’ and ‘Push’, Skrillex also brought out a number of surprise guests for the Ultra show. According to DJ Magazine, this included Damian Marley, Young Niko and NAISHA.
The outlet also reports that the rendition of ‘Baddadan’ saw Moore joined by Flowdan – a song they played together alongside Chase & Status, Bou, Trigga, IRAH and Takura. Check out footage from the show below.
Skrillex shared his latest work in 2023, releasing two albums: ‘Quest For Fire’ and ‘Don’t Get Too Close’. The former scored a three-star review, with Ben Jolley writing for NME: “By fusing the past, present – and once again setting a blueprint for the future of music – Skrillex’s status in modern music remains unchallenged.”
After dropping the LPs, he teamed up with Fred Again.. and Four Tet to perform a last-minute sold-out show at Madison Square Garden. He then headlined the second weekend of Coachella 2023 at the last minute after Frank Ocean dropped out.
Last year, he hinted to fans that more material was on the way during an online tribute to Quincy Jones.
“He came to one of my shows and spent the time to chat after… I’ll never forget that. He’s my absolute hero and his passing has definitely put some things into perspective,” he wrote. “I’ve never felt more inspired and in lockstep with my intentions as an artist. As I’m nearing completion of my next work and my final project for Atlantic Records, I can’t help but feel very existential about it all.”
