Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has revealed that he is currently in the recording studio. See the post below.
The Sheffield band released their seventh and latest studio album, ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’, last May. It was later named as one of NME‘s best albums of 2024, and praised for “set[ting] new bars for modern metal”.
Speaking to NME last December, frontman Sykes said BMTH “have a few new songs” ready for their headline slots at Reading & Leeds 2025. He had previously teased ‘Nex Gen: Director’s Cut’, explaining that he’d “like to get new music out”.
“We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them,” he told Kerrang!.
Now, Sykes has hinted that he is currently working on new music in a post on social media. Yesterday (April 1), the vocalist shared two images of himself in a recording space. He wrote in the caption: “In’t studio.”

Fans in the comments section are now speculating about what’s coming. “NEW MUSIC…?” one person wrote, with another saying: “We need ‘Nex Gen (Deluxe)’ pleaseeeee.” A third user added: “Oli cooking something new .”
The update comes shortly after Bring Me The Horizon announced a 2025 North American arena tour for this autumn. They’ll also appear at Louder Than Life festival in the US this September, following slots at Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in June.
Speaking to NME at the BRITs 2025 last month, Sykes explained that BMTH needed to take some time off “at some point, it’s just about finding that time”. He continued: “I think we need to go away for a bit, but it’s hard because there is always so much we want to do and so many places we want to tour.”
Sykes added: “I think it’ll be good for us because it feels like we’ve been around since the first ‘Post Human’ [2020’s EP ‘Survival Horror’]… We’ve not gone away.”
During his previous conversation with NME at the end of last year, the frontman said Bring Me’s “new songs” were “not a new album or anything, but some new material for the set” at Reading & Leeds.
“These will be our only shows in the UK next year, and our final shows before we go away for maybe quite some time,” Sykes went on. “This is will be the conclusion of the ‘Nex Gen’ run for sure.”
When asked if the new tracks would form part three of the ‘Post Human’ series or another part of the narrative, the singer told NME: “Well, they don’t actually exist yet! There’s a little bit more of the ‘Nex Gen’ story to tell through music.
“We’ve a lot of ideas and loose ends, and there are enough there that there could be an extended version of the record. I’ve been going flat-out for the last few years, so I’m not trying to make any promises. If it doesn’t happen then it doesn’t happen, but there is some music that our fans would love and would be cool to get out. It’s on the to-do list.”
NME also quizzed Sykes on whether 2026 was a likely time for a new BMTH album. He responded: “Yeah, I dunno. We haven’t really figured it out yet. It could be a bit longer than that. It’s hard to say at this point.”
As for the group’s upcoming big slots at R&L ’25, the frontman told NME: “We very recently started taking on what I believe will be the next stage of live entertainment by doing stuff with augmented reality and simulated visuals […]
“My imagination has been blown wide open. It’s been like being in a kid in a candy store to see the things that could be possible soon. It’s come on leaps and bounds even since our arena tour this year.”
He added: “For Reading & Leeds, we’ll just be taking that further and pushing ahead.”
