Cillian Murphy has released a playlist of music he is currently listening to, titled ‘Spring Sessions’, via his production company.

Posting on Instagram, Big Things Films wrote: “We made it – it’s officially spring! It’s beginning to bloom here at Big Things, so here’s a fresh new playlist from Cillian to bring in the brighter days. Enjoy”.

The link leads to a diverse 23-track playlist, which is available below. Highlights include ‘People Watching’ by Sam Fender, ‘Love Of Country’ by Irish post-punk outfit The Murder Capital, The Velvet Underground track ‘Run Run Run’, ‘Flood’ by Little Simz, and ‘Feel Flows’ by The Beach Boys.

Big Things is a production company founded by Irish producer Alan Moloney and Oscar winner Murphy. Together they made Small Things Like These, a historical drama released last November. Set in 1985, it followed coal merchant Bill Furlong (Murphy) as he discovers disturbing secrets in a small Irish town heavily influenced by the Roman Catholic Church.

The independent film was a box office success and the first release from the company. Their next production, Steve, is described by Big Things’ website as: “a reimagining of Max Porter’s novel Shy, and traces a pivotal 24 hours in the life of a head teacher (Cillian Murphy) at a reform school for boys in rural South West England, circa 1996. Financed by Netflix, Tim Mielants directing”.

Murphy has long had an affection for music, performing in bands during his teens and early 20s. His band The Sons of Mr. Green Genes, named after a Frank Zappa song, also featured his brother Páidi. He would later describe the band as specialising in “wacky lyrics and endless guitar solos”. Hew has been seen Djing at parties and events in his native Ireland.

He also hosts Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition, a limited radio series for BBC 6 Music in which he draws from his personal music collection. As of 2024, three seasons of Limited Edition have been produced, totalling 28 episodes. The third season ended in March 2024, making 28 episodes in total so far.
