Kali Uchis “embraces a life of enjoyment despite the world” on blissed-out new single ‘Sunshine & Rain’

Kali Uchis has shared her new single ‘Sunshine & Rain’ – check it out below.

The track is the first from the American-Colombian singer’s forthcoming album ‘Sincerely’, which is set to drop on May 9. You can pre-order/pre-save her fifth LP here.

“This record is about embracing a life of enjoyment despite the world or your circumstances, an existential piece focusing on the vulnerability and romanticism of life,” says Uchis on the meaning behind the track. You can listen to it and view the video for her new single below.

Uchis recently revealed that the record stems from a “life-altering event”.

“The album is about the complexities of life and finding ways to find joy in life despite the world. Finding ways to appreciate every moment and not take life for granted. Treat every day special,” she added. “It’s my most existential and honest work. It’s definitely the most beautiful body of work to me, and it’s going to be, for me, the most meaningful and impactful.”

Uchis went on to say that the album will be entirely in English, saying that it became “a lot more meaningful” following “the turn of events that happened in my life.”

Last year, she released her fourth LP ‘Orquídeas‘ in January, and then its deluxe ‘Orquídeas Parte 2’ in August.

Reviewing the former, NME awarded the record four stars and said: “Uchis masterfully melds her bicultural worlds in the dembow-driven ‘Muñekita’. She is joined by City Girls’ JT and Dominican rapper El Alfa in the fierce and freaky track about a woman living her best life in the club. Uchis later opens her heart in Spanglish in ‘Tu Corazón Es Mío’, in which divulges her pregnancy with Don Toliver.”

More recently, Uchis appeared on BLACKPINK singer Jennie‘s recent single ‘Damn Right‘, also featuring Childish Gambino and d4vd’s ‘Crashing‘.
