SNAYX tackle “nepotism, vanity, generational wealth, trends and crippling social media addiction” on thrilling new single ‘Strut’

The alt-rock trio take aim at their generation’s social media addiction and fixation on wealth on the bass-driven, punk-inflected song.

Explaining the inspiration for ‘Strut’, vocalist Charlie Herridge said in a press statement that it explores “modern ideals and perceived values through the eyes of a social media-obsessed society.”

Herridge continued: “Nepotism, vanity, generational wealth, trends and crippling social media addiction. The lyrics cover all aspects of the aspirational hustle of the digital generation.”

“Whilst still sharp and tongue-in-cheek, the song is better framed as a social commentary without judgement or shade. Keeping up with the Jones’ has reached its digital climax.”

Alongside the track, the trio have shared an official music video that takes place from the perspective of their fridge. Check it out below.

SNAYX are one of NME‘s 100 Essential Emerging Artists to watch in 2025. Their entry on this year’s list reads: “Mixing stomping Brit-punk with harsh, blunt lyricism, Snayx have been gradually building a dedicated following all over the UK through word-of-mouth buzz around their rampaging live show.

“They might not have a guitarist, but they don’t need one: Ollie Horner’s bass tone can shatter your eardrums on its own. Whether it’s hitting out against police abuse (‘Boys In Blue’) or political doom and gloom (‘Sink Or Swim’), Snayx make sure they shout the loudest – and have heaps of fun in the process.”

They’re set to play Reading & Leeds later this year. The festival takes place between August 21 and 24, and you can visit here for remaining tickets and more information.

NME caught them live in Manchester in 2023 and gave the show a glowing five-star review, calling it a “flawless display from a vital band who are definitely capable of propelling UK punk far into the future.”
