Tate McRae is set to feature on Morgan Wallen’s new album, but some of her fans aren’t happy about it.

News of the collaboration came just after the country music star revealed that he had a joint track with Post Malone on the way called ‘I Ain’t Comin’ Back’ – which is set to feature on his huge, 37-track album ‘I’m The Problem’.

On Tuesday (April 15), McRae got fans talking about the new album too when she suggested that she would be featuring on the tracklist too. She did this by sharing a photo on Instagram, containing an orange jersey that had Wallen’s initials on it.

Since the post was shared, it looks like the news of the two potentially teaming up hasn’t gathered the best response from fans. This, in part, stems from the controversies that have surrounded the country star in recent years.

Back in 2021, for instance, he was caught on camera shouting a racial slur, and then brushed it off as intended to be “playful” and not said “in any derogatory manner.” In 2023, he was arrested for throwing a chair off a rooftop bar in Nashville, and more recently he sparked backlash after abruptly exiting the stage during the ending credits of SNL.

For the latter, he later shared an update on X/Twitter that read “Get me to God’s country” – which then became a meme and inspired some new merchandise from the singer.

“Today marks the END of whatever ‘tate mcrae’ was. thank god,” one person wrote on X in response to the potential collab. A second wrote: “Tate Mcrae confirms in discord server she is collaborating with Neo Nazi and racist Morgan Wallen.”

“Tate McRae, when we said we wanted more collabs we meant with Olivia Rodrigo & that finished Tyla scrap, NOT m*rgan w*llen,” another added, while someone else wrote: “i knew in my soul not to jump on the tate mcrae bandwagon”.

Check out more responses above.

Wallen has since confirmed that the album will contain a collaboration with McRae, and shared that it will arrive along with the full record on May 16 via Big Loud.

It will also include previously shared singles ‘I’m A Little Crazy’ and ‘Just In Case’, while the collab with Post Malone, ‘I Ain’t Comin’ Back’, arrives tomorrow (April 18).

While Wallen left a sour taste for some after his abrupt departure from SNL, McRae made less of a controversial appearance last month when she performed ‘Sports Car’ and ‘Dear God’.

It marked the Canadian pop star’s second appearance as the musical guest, following her performance of her breakthrough hits ‘Greedy’ and ‘Grave’ on the show in 2023, and came in celebration of her new album ‘So Close To What’.
