Dua Lipa welcomed Crowded House’s Neil Finn to the stage in Auckland for a version of the classic single ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ – watch below.
The ‘Houdini’ star has been making a habit of covering local music royalty during the Australia and New Zealand leg of her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour in recent weeks, having already played Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’, AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ and Lorde’s ‘Royals’.
She also brought out Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker for a version of ‘The Less I Know The Better’ in Sydney last week.
Now, during a show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Friday (April 4), she was accompanied by Finn for a cover of his 1986 pop staple. Watch fan-captured footage of the performance here:
Other Antipodean covers from Lipa recently include ‘Riptide’ alongside Vance Joy, ‘Rush’ with Troye Sivan and a version of INXS’ ‘Never Tear Us Apart’.
Lipa has just announced the Latin American leg of the ‘Radical Optimism’. Kicking off on November 7 in Buenos Aires in Argentina, the star will call at further cities in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Columbia and wrap up her tour in Mexico, on December 2. Tickets will go on pre-sale at 10am local time on April 7 here before tickets go on general sale at 10am on April 10 here. You can view the full list of dates here.
Before that, Lipa will be heading over to the UK for even more live shows this summer, kicking off the run with two huge concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21) followed by two dates at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 24 and 25. Find any remaining tickets here.
Elsewhere, a lawsuit was recently dismissed that had accused her of copying her 2020 hit track ‘Levitating’ from two other songs. Back in 2022, the pop star was sued by songwriters L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer who claimed that Lipa had plagiarised their songs – 1979’s ‘Wiggle And Giggle All Night’ and 1980’s ‘Don Diablo’.
