The new trailer for Tron: Ares has been released alongside a snippet of the Nine Inch Nails score. Check it out below.

The sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy and the third film in Disney’s Tron franchise, the film follows a “highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings,” according to a press release.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, Tron: Ares stars Jared Leto and Greta Lee, who both appear in the trailer, alongside Evan Peters and Jeff Bridges. It hits theatres on October 10.

A new trailer released today (April 6), also marks the first taste of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’s score. Though they’ve worked together on multiple film scores – notably including their recent work on the Luca Guadagnino films Queer and Challengers, the latter of which won them a Golden Globe – and this marks their first work for film under the Nine Inch Nails moniker.

Tron: Ares will also feature new original songs from the band, who are set to hit the road this June for their first headlining tour in three years.

The band will be heading on their ‘Peel It Back’ tour later this year, with support from Boys Noize, marking their first live performances together since 2022. It will see them take to the stage in the UK, Europe and North America later this summer.

During an interview at the end of 2024, Reznor revealed that NIN had been working on new material. “We’re ready to be back in the driver’s seat,” he said.

An upcoming new record would mark their first since the surprise 2020 ambient double album ‘Ghosts V-VI’, which followed 2018’s ‘Bad Witch’.
