To warm up for LIDO Festival, London Grammar have shared a stripped-back live video of fan favourite ‘Darling Are You Gonna Leave Me’ from London’s Victoria Park. See it first on NME below.
The UK art-pop trio will be playing their biggest UK gig to date with a London festival exclusive, headlining LIDO Festival on Sunday June 15. They’ll be joined by the likes of Celeste, Roísín Murphy, The Blessed Madonna, Pip Millett, Wasia Project, Maverick Sabre, Neil Frances, and many more.
To get in the spirit, the band headed down to the East London park to record the cut from their early EP, ‘Metal & Dust’, harking back to a classic TV performance from over a decade ago.
“Back in 2013 we sang ‘Darling Are You Gonna Leave Me’ live at Glastonbury,” the band told NME. “This song was also part of the deluxe edition to our debut album ‘If You Wait’. We never would have anticipated that the song would have reached as many people as it did, and we still receive messages daily on how his song means so much to you.
“Now 12 years later we recreated this moment in Victoria Park, where we will be headlining Lido festival on June 15.”
LIDO will also see headline performances from Charli XCX, Jamie xx and Massive Attack, as well as an Outbreak Festival takeover topped by Turnstile. Visit here for tickets and more information.
London Grammar are currently wrapping up touring for their acclaimed fourth album, ‘The Greatest Love‘.
Speaking to NME about their future from here, singer Hannah Reid expressed the desire to enforce more boundaries and focus more on music above the other aspects of being in a band.
“I would love for us to disappear entirely behind the music, and to still make what we consider is great music, and I hope that our fans will still be there,” she said. “I literally have tried so many times to be in music videos, to look good, and I just don’t think it works. So I’m over it now. Done. Never again.”
As well as headlining Boardmasters in Cornwall this August, London Grammar’s summer festival tour will also see them perform at the likes of Rock En Seine in France, Lowlands in The Netherlands, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Release Athens Festival. Visit here for more information.
