Mark Ronson has said that he is “keeping the year open” in hope of DJing at Taylor Swift’s wedding.
Ronson was speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show today (Monday October 13). During the chat, he revealed that he was keeping his diary open in case he got a call from Swift and Travis Kelce ahead of their upcoming wedding.
In August, the couple, who have been in a relationship since 2023, announced their engagement. They shared a series of photographs showing the singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end embracing in a garden.
Ronson and Mills began by talking about the band Foreigner, who last month offered their services to be the wedding band at Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
Mills said to Ronson: “I have seen that Foreigner have offered to play Taylor Swift’s wedding…I wonder if she has said anything yet?”
Ronson replied: “I think there [are] a lot of people putting themselves up for that gig. Me, I am keeping the year open as well…ou don’t know who is going to get the call.”
Referring to the recent wedding of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, he added: “I did DJ a wedding that apparently she was at a week ago.”
Ronson continued: “I did not see her on the dance floor so I probably didn’t do the best job of selling…my services there,” he joked. “It was a lot of fun. I have known Benny for ten years and when he got engaged he was like will you come and do like a 90s DJ set at my wedding and I was like sure.”
He also went on to suggest that he could even team up with Foreigner. “You could also get a good deal. Like we could do the Foreigner-Mark Ronson group deal or something?”
Swift herself recently hinted that her good friend and fellow pop star Ed Sheeran may perform at her wedding.
“We spoke to Ed Sheeran a few weeks back, and he told us he is constantly asked to perform at people’s weddings,” Swift added. Host Fleur East then asked Swift if Sheeran could sing at her wedding. “Oh, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think,” Swift replied.
The news of the engagement came shortly after Swift announced her 12th album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’, during her first-ever appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason.
‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ was co-produced by Max Martin and Shellback, alongside Swift herself. The pop star has shared the full tracklist for the album, which boasts a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track.
Swift has described the follow-up to last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ as “the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time”. The project will focus on “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life” during the record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’.
NME gave ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ three stars, writing: “To seek escapism is not a sin, but the best pop music makes the personal feel like life or death. ‘Speak Now’, ‘Reputation’, ‘Folklore’: her greatest works could be genuinely transformative. For the first time, ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ sees Swift not catalysed into artistic growth by love, but merely comfortably secured by it.”
In other news, today (October 13), Swift announced a new six-part docuseries charting her record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’.
