Alabama Shakes have announced their first live show in the UK in a decade – check out all the details below.

The band – comprised of Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell – went on hiatus back in 2018, and recently returned with their first new music in 10 years. Shared in August, ‘Another Life’ saw the band venture further into 1960s British soul and rock.

Alabama Shakes are now set to play a headline show at Alexandra Palace on Friday July 3, almost 10 years to the day since they last played live in London.

It follows the trio’s latest North American tour, and tickets for the show go on pre-sale here from 9am GMT on Wednesday (November 19). Alternatively, tickets go on general sale here from the same time on Friday (November 21).

The last time they hit the capital, they were part of 2016’s BST Hyde Park line-up alongside Mumford & Sons, Wolf Alice, and Kurt Vile, with their appearance at the London festival following the release of their second album, the Grammy-winning ‘Sound & Colour’ back in 2015.

As for their newer material, ‘Another Life’ was recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville and produced by Alabama Shakes with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett, with he band said to be working on more music for next year.

Since their hiatus, Howard has released two solo studio albums: 2019’s ‘Jaime‘ and 2023’s ‘What Now‘.

In December, the band reunited for the first time in over seven years at a surprise show in their native Alabama. Howard had been slated to perform the gig as a solo act, but decided to surprise guests by inviting her Alabama Shakes bandmates to the stage.

Then, in January, they shared some photos of themselves in the studio, telling fans they were “working on some exciting stuff!”

They are currently continuing as a three-piece, with former drummer Steve Johnson absent. He was arrested on charges of child abuse in March 2021, but was then dismissed in December 2021.

Elsewhere, Brittany Howard‘s new hardcore band, Kumite, played their first show in Nashville in January. She was joined on stage at East Nashville’s Basement East by members of Nashville hardcore band Second Spirit.
