Yungblud has revealed that Robbie Williams wrote him a profound letter at a moment “when it really needed to come”.

It has been a year of highs and lows for Yungblud – real name Dominic Harrison – from the release of his new album ‘Idols’, the launch of his own venue space and picking up his first ever Grammy nominations, to losing his mentor Ozzy Osbourne and having to cancel his final shows of the year on doctor’s orders.

Now, in a new interview with Billboard, Yungblud has opened up about the touching moment that he received a personal letter from Robbie – another solo artist that has had his share of mental health struggles and public criticism in the past – and the positive impact it had on him.

“He wrote me this letter when it really needed to come,” Yungblud said. “He related himself to me, saying that he knew what it was like to be a 28-year-old who was trying to figure out who they were, while also dealing with a million opinions about what he could be or never be. People don’t give Robbie the credit for his mind and the way he sees things.”

Williams has reached out to fellow artists to offer support in the past, notably getting in contact with Lewis Capaldi during his struggles in the public eye in 2023.

“It’s very difficult for people to understand the psychology of this great gift that has been given to you but yet it’s breaking you. Why? You’ve got money; you’ve got people going, ‘We love you.’ Wat’s the problem with that?” Williams told DIY in 2023.

As for Yungblud, he recently described his Grammy nominations as “an honour”, but also said they are “tragic”.

He is up for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance, the latter for the version of ‘Changes’ that he played at the final Black Sabbath show ‘Back To The Beginning’ in July.

“I don’t know how I feel about it,” he said. “As a singer, to be Grammy nominated for a live performance where you can’t go into a studio and overdub it or make it perfect, it’s a moment that’s gone and you can’t share it with the person you were singing it to”.

He is still due to play a run of UK and Ireland arena dates in April, a tour that he recently extended due to outstanding demand. You can see the complete list of dates here and find any remaining tickets here.

Before that, he also has a string of Australian shows booked for January, and will play at Lollapalooza India on January 24.

In April, he will play a pair of “up close and personal” shows in London and Kingston, while he has also been announced on the line-ups for Bonnaroo and Pinkpop next year.

His EP with Aerosmith‘One More Time’, came out on November 21. They released a single from the EP, ‘My Only Angel’, in September, marking the hard rock icons’ first original release in over 12 years.  The two acts worked together earlier that month to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs.
