Singer and One Direction support act Camryn Magness has died aged 26 following a scooter accident.

According to People, the American singer was struck while riding an electric scooter. Her death was later confirmed on social media, where a video of Magness scuba diving was shared and captioned: “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Camryn, a radiant force whose voice, coy, and bright spirit touched so many.

“Whether beneath the waves or on stage, she met life with fearless energy and boundless kindness,” the statement continued. “In the quiet between waves, her memory will surface—bright, bold, unforgotten. Rest in endless blue, our sweet girl. You are deeply loved and forever cherished.

“Please keep her family and friends in prayer as they navigate this difficult time. Camryn will live on in our hearts forever”.

Magness was born on July 14, 1999 in Denver, and shot to fame as a child star. Her career began when Magness posted videos of her singing on YouTube, and she was signed by a label shortly afterwards in 2008.

Her debut single ‘Wait and See’ dropped in 2010, and was later featured in the film adaptaion for beloved book Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer. Meanwhile, her second single ‘Set the Night on Fire’ would go on to chart in the US Top 40.

She would tour with the likes of Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance in 2011, and was eventually chosen to support One Direction on their debut headline tour the following year. Magness would tour again with the bestselling boy band for their 2013 European tour, later supporting Fifth Harmony in 2016 throughout Europe.

She is survived by her fiancé Christian Name, along with her parents Sarah and Gary and siblings Chelsea and Cable.
