Biffy Clyro have kicked off their huge ‘Futique’ UK and Ireland tour in Belfast – check out footage and setlist info below.
On Friday night (January 9), the band played at the SSE Arena in the first of a run of nine shows in support of their 10th album ‘Futique’, which was released in September.
Soft Play and The Armed are supporting them on the trek, but bassist James Johnston is sitting the tour out to focus on his mental health, which he said last month had “led to addiction issues” that he had “kept concealed for a long time” and had started to cause “significant problems for myself and everyone around me”. Naomi Macleod of Bitch Falcon and Empire State Bastard is sitting in for Johnston for the shows.
Seven tracks from ‘Futique’ made their way onto the setlist, among classics including ‘Mountains’, ‘Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies’ and ‘Many Of Horror’, while the stage setup itself reflected the new record’s angular artwork.
Check out footage and reaction from the show here:
What a start to 2026! Biffy Clyro in Belfast . It’s annoying when you think you have seen your best gig of the year in the first week in Jan! I would easily watch the Futique tour again! Shout out to the pleasing @softplayband. Punk shaved ape. @BiffyClyro @SSEBelfastArena pic.twitter.com/18ACqwUjPN

It is the start of a big year of live performances for the Scottish band, as they prepare to play the biggest gig of their lives in front of 40,000 fans at London’s Finsbury Park in July, where they will be joined by Nothing But Thieves, Don Broco, Marmozets and more.
Speaking to NME about that show, frontman Simon Neil said: “We’ve put together a fucking unbelievable bill. We’re lucky that a lot of people wanted to play, but we wanted to lean into British rock bands and be proud of where we come from. Nothing But Thieves, Marmozets, Don Broco, it’s dynamite.
“Sometimes we put a bill together and it’s pointed. ‘I want people to learn about this band!’ Magic will happen.”
They have a handful of festival slots planned for the summer too, including a slot alongside Florence + The Machine, Lewis Capaldi, SOMBR, and Twenty One Pilots at Sziget 2026, and a headline stop at Noches del Botánico in Madrid.
NME awarded ‘Futique’ four stars, writing: “Biffy Clyro have delivered one of their most personal and definitive records to date. There’s a vulnerability met with a forward motion; a feeling of three friends shining light through the cracks to find a renewed sense of purpose. You can holler “‘Mon the Biff!” for a while longer, it seems. A little love and a lot of noise goes a long way.”
Back in September, the band spoke to NME about the record, and Neil described it as “arms-wide-open, defenceless, for better or worse, here it is.”
