Laufey has shared a cover of ‘Santa Baby’ alongside a festive music video featuring Bill Murray. Check it out below.

Now Halloween has passed, Laufey has officially switched to Christmas mode, with the latest edition of her ongoing project ‘A Very Laufey Holiday’. The album began in 2021 with the song ‘Love To Keep Me Warm’, which featured dodie, followed by ‘The Christmas Waltz’ in 2022, and ‘Christmas Dreaming’ in 2023.

This year’s instalment comes in the form of ‘Santa Baby’, a cover of the festive hit first performed by Eartha Kitt in 1953, which she’s updated with jazzy inflexions.

Alongside the track, she’s shared a music video which stars Murray as a narrator, alongside Isabella Boylston, principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. Bolyston performs with an ensemble of ballet dancers in a routine choreographed by Alex Wong.

In a press release, Laufey said: “I’m so excited to continue adding to ‘A Very Laufey Holiday’ with my version of the holiday classic, ‘Santa Baby’.

“It was so much fun creating this version, and the music video became the perfect visual representation of the track. We were so lucky to have Bill Murray and Isabella Boylston of the American Ballet featured in the video for this fun and festive story.”

Check out the video below.

Laufey has also announced today (November 1) that ‘A Very Laufey Holiday’ will be released vinyl for the first time.  It’s available to pre-order now, here.

Speaking to NME for The Cover last year, Laufey shared her dream of bringing jazz to the masses. “I always said to my mom, I remember when I was 11 in the car, ‘I want to do for jazz music what Taylor Swift did for country music’,” she told us. “With every day, with every little achievement, I feel like I’m getting closer to that goal of bringing jazz back to my generation.”
