Coheed and Cambria have announced a new album titled ‘The Father of Make Believe’, issuing its first single ‘Searching For Tomorrow’ with an intergalactic music video. See the clip, along with album artwork, below.
The progressive rock group revealed the news earlier today (November 20), announcing pre-orders for their eleventh studio album, which is the third entry into their ‘Vaxis’ series of albums – first starting with 2018’s ‘Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures’ and continued with 2022’s ‘Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind’.
Its first single, ‘Searching For Tomorrow’, has been released by the band on streaming platforms – and it comes with an intergalactic animated music video directed by Anthony Schepperd. Watch it below.
Per a press release, the album turns inward to look at “a war within myself,” as frontman, lead guitarist and chief songwriter Claudio Sanchez stated.
It reads that the album “forges new ground” by merging the ‘Vaxis’ story with deeply personal themes about Sanchez’s life and career. “Sanchez is the Father of Make Believe, gazing down upon this world he’s wrought,” it continues.
A limited edition box set of ‘Vaxis III’ comes with an assortment of extras: a functional helmet with neuro-dynamic display goggles, a hardcover coffee table book, a certificate signed by a ‘Vaxis’ character, and more. Pre-order it here.
The band will support the album release with a headline set at 2000Trees Festival at Cheltenham’s Upcote Farm in July 2025, alongside Kneecap, Million Dead, Taking Back Sunday and Alexisonfire, among others.
It takes place after their cruise ship festival S.S. Neverender, a five-day ride that will host a line-up of bands alongside Coheed, who will perform “two unique” sets. They are also set to perform at Tool In The Sand, a festival founded by prog-metal band Tool, in the Dominican Republic.
In recent weeks, the band also shared a cover of The Cure’s ‘Just Like Heaven’ in an ongoing series shared on YouTube.
