My Bloody Valentine announce first gig since 2018

My Bloody Valentine have announced details of their first live show since 2018. Find the details below.

The iconic alt-rock band took to Instagram for the surprise announcement this morning (November 25) – confirming that they will be heading to Dublin next year for their only scheduled gig of 2025.

For the show, the members will return to the city in which they formed on November 22, and perform at the 3Arena. As reported by Hot Press, the gig marks their first Irish headline show since 1992.

Sharing a simple poster announcing the gig, the band also confirmed that tickets go on sale this Friday (November 29) at 10am local time.

Pre-sale access is also available from tomorrow (26) at 9am, although it is only available to those who sign up for the band’s newsletter. Visit here to buy tickets.

Not only is the Dublin gig the band’s first and only scheduled 2025 show at time of writing, it is also their first live performance in nearly seven years. This comes as the last My Bloody Valentine shows took place in North America back in 2018.

Since then, the members revealed in 2021 that they were working on two new albums for Domino, which will follow up their 2013 comeback record ‘mbv’. At the time founding member Kevin Shields commented that the first album would contain “warm and melodic” material while the second would be more experimental.

He added: “I don’t want to be 70-something wanting to make the next record after ‘mbv’. I think it’d be cooler to make one now.”

2013 album ‘mbv’, was their first since 1991’s ‘Loveless’, and in 2022, the band went on to criticise Spotify for showing incorrect lyrics on the platform.

“Just noticed that Spotify has put fake lyrics up for our songs without our knowledge. These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting,” the band tweeted at the time. “We’re not sure where they got them from, probably one of those bullshit lyrics sites on the internet.”

Since then, Shields went on to subtly share brand new music, by having it concealed within his range of custom guitar pedals.
