James Blake performs in 2024

James Blake has announced two “intimate piano shows”, and unveiled a new live video for ‘Like The End’. Find out the details below.

The two upcoming gigs will both take place next month, and see the artist return to his London hometown for a more intimate gig than fans are used to.

Taking place on December 18 and 19, the gigs will see a more stripped-back set as Blake performs by a piano. Support comes from Monica Martin and tickets have sold out. Check back here to grab any that may become available.

As well as announcing the intimate live shows, Blake has also unveiled a new live video for his single ‘Like The End’. The recording was shot at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, and you can check it out below.

Arriving earlier this month, the track came as one of Blake’s first releases since his last solo album, ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’, which arrived in 2023. Since then, he has also joined up with Lil Yachty for the collaborative album, ‘Bad Cameo’ and dropped the surprise four-track EP, ‘CMYK 002 – Let Her Know’.

But doesn’t it feel like the end?/ Something’s coming for us/ And maybe we’re not prepared/ That this might only be day one,” he sings in the reflective single.

The live video, shared today (November 29), follows on from the release of the official music video. It was directed by Jon Rafman using AI, and upon it being shared, Blake said:  “I don’t know how else you could make a video that totally nails the feeling of not knowing what’s real anymore.”

The song also arrived via Blake’s own CMYK label, and has gone on to be featured in the trailer for Netflix’s The Madness, starring Colman Domingo.

In other James Blake news, the musician was recently announced for Field Day 2025, alongside Peggy Gou, Mala, Folamour, Skream & Benga, Mall Grab, Midland, Fatima Yamaha, Jayda G, Bubble Love, Girls Don’t Sync, Dixon, Jungle and more.

Before then, he spoke out against the “monopolies” that come with touring, amid ferocious debate surrounding mailing lists controlled by external companies, hidden fees, and social media algorithms all making it more difficult for fans to buy tickets to see their favourite artists.

He said: “I’m sick of the control over every single aspect of the live experience meaning that means everyone who actually works on the show can be squeezed until a career in live music being a rigger, tech, sound, lighting, producer, tour manager, all of the amazing people who make it possible for us to be in a room together playing live music safely, is harder and harder to justify as a career path.

“For so long artists and fans have been kept in separate rooms, and prevented from talking to each other about how bad it’s been getting. I wanna be in the same room as you, figuratively and literally. And while they kept us in different rooms they were robbing you and robbing the artists.”
