The rapper shared the track in response to a fan’s post on Twitter/X on November 24, reading: “I want @tylerthecreator to freestyle on Hey Now so bad.”
“Merry christmas. had fun with it,” he wrote today (December 25) alongside a link to the new music video, directed by Tyler and featuring cameos from Odd Future’s Jasper Dolphin, Travis “Taco” Bennett, and Lionel “L-Boy” Boyce.
“300k in four days Chromakopia/12 days gold I ain’t even drop deluxe one/Sold a million tickets first day for that new stage,” Tyler raps over the instrumental from Lamar’s recent surprise-released album ‘GNX‘.

Tyler is also using the holiday to celebrate the 15th anniversary of ‘Bastard’, his debut studio album from 2009. “thank you to everyone who listened to anything over the years,” he wrote to fans on Twitter/X.
“was in such a different zone musically and as a person, but was determined to be who i am today,” he continued. “full of gratitude cause it all came true. earl and i got to do ASSMILK; i did ODD TODDLERS at coachella main stage how wild?!? this album was made at ages 16-18. what a time. thank you!”
The rapper shared his seventh album ‘Chropmakopia‘ in late October, and it was given a three-star review by NME.
“Within the chaos [of the album], there’s beauty — the sensitivity of ‘Hey Jane’, the infectious hip-hop bite of ‘Thought I Was Dead’, the rising cacophonies of brass and percussion on ‘I Killed You’. But perhaps a less frantic approach would’ve benefited the listen overall,” it read.
In November, Tyler shared that he’s trying to get copyright strikes lifted so that fans can react to the album in full on social media.
Elsewhere, Lamar’s 2024 album ‘GNX’ was awarded full marks by NME. “Lamar channels what could be interpreted as hate and negativity into a teachable moment, leading you to draw upon the purest emotion known to man: love. In a year that started with so much venom, Kendrick Lamar shares the antidote on [the album],” the review read.
The surprise LP also ranked 12th on NME‘s 50 best albums of 2024 list for being a “punchy, precise record”.
In addition, Lamar’s infamous Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us’ just missed out on the top spot on NME‘s 50 best songs of 2024 list – being praised for turning “packaged intelligent, intensely researched character assassinations into a fierce, booming DJ Mustard-produced club hit”.
