Kanye West has defended his wife Bianca Censori following the controversy around her “nude” dress at the Grammys.

The couple made headlines after they showed up for the red carpet for the 67th Grammy Awards – held in Los Angeles this past weekend – with Censori wearing an almost entirely see-through dress.

The outfit was unsurprisingly met with shock online and left some expressing concern for Censori’s welfare. Both she and West left the event shortly afterwards, and the rapper later confirmed that they had done so of their own volition – not as a result of being escorted out.

Now, following backlash, West has taken to social media to defend his wife, saying that he “keeps staring” at photos of her at the event in “admiration”.

“My wife’s first red carpet opened a whole new world,” he began, writing on X/Twitter and sharing a photo from the red carpet. “I keep staring at this photo like I was staring in admiration that night. Thinking ‘Wow I am so lucky to have a wife  that is so smart, talented, brave and hot’.”

“She took a break from shooting her first film to make a movie in real life,” he continued. “We Tailored that invisible dress six times, And just like magic poof. We disappeared.”

He also went on to acknowledge the attention the Grammys appearance got in the media, and thanked one of the few that took a positive stance on the controversial dress. “Thank you to all the outlets who recognised us and gave us back the energy we put in… But I have to give a shout-out  to the American Vogue team for writing an article that places my wife in a strong positive light and also recognises rightful strength.”

“People asked ‘How would your mother feel?’,” he concluded. “You don’t know my mama, bitch.”

Shortly after the red carpet, speculation arose that the outfit broke the dress code and a debate was sparked regarding whether Censori could face charges of indecent exposure. In light of that a producer for the Grammys spoke out about Censori’s controversial dress and said that although there is a strict “artistic black-tie” dress code, the vague nature of that description left it “up for interpretation”.

West – who now goes by Ye – also addressed the divisive appearance in the days since. In a now-deleted post on Instagram, he posted a screenshot of Google Analytics to show that his wife’s name was trending globally.

“WE BEAT THE GRAMMIES (sic),” he wrote in the caption (via Music News). “FOR CLARITY FEBRUARY 4TH 2025 MY WIFE IS THE MOST GOOGLED PERSON ON THE PLANET CALLED EARTH.”

He then reiterated the comment with paparazzi, telling them: “We beat the Grammys,” while Censori laughed.

The couple have turned heads for this type of thing before, one of the most notable examples taking place in 2023, when police in Venice investigated an “indecent” public incident on a boat involving the pair.

In other Kanye West news, the rapper recently revealed that he has autism and shared that he believes his 2016 bipolar disorder diagnosis was incorrect.
