Footage has emerged of Tory Lanez recording a verse for a new project from prison – before a riot disrupted the session.
In a video obtained by TMZ, the incarcerated rapper is seen laying down some vocals for a forthcoming song over the phone.
“$500 on the Zelle will make ’em do gymnastics/ Seen that n***a run up to the yard and he got backflipped/ Cried in the cell so many nights, I got trapped in,” Lanez spits. The clip sees the artist turn around as a commotion unfolds behind him.
He carries on rapping to begin with, but eventually abandons the session due to the situation escalating. Shouting can be heard in the background, with prison guards reportedly entering the scene.
Lanez then flees the area when pepper spray is used. The chaotic incident appears to continue after he exits the frame. Further details about the apparent riot are not known. See the video here:

The Canadian artist announced his ‘Prison Tapes’ series last summer, and subsequently shared two new songs: ‘Cell 245’ and ‘Wish I Never Met You’.
In a “quick update” posted to his Instagram page, Lanez said he’d “cracked the code”, adding that he and his engineer had “finally figure[d] out how to record music over the jail phone and still keep the quality as professional”.
He also promised that he would be “dropping the all-new ‘Free Tory’ playlist”, which will be updated weekly. However, the series came to an end in September due to him having his recording equipment confiscated.
“My cell was not raided and trashed because I learned how to record myself in prison or because I created ‘The Prison Tapes’,” Lanez wrote (via The Source). “I was shut down because the ‘HIGHER UPS’ figured out what I was really doing with ‘The Prison Tapes’ and how many inmates were being helped in a life changing way because of them.”
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 for an incident that occurred in July 2020, when Megan Thee Stallion was shot in her feet while leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.
He was found guilty of all three charges levelled against him: one count of assault with a semi-automatic firearm; one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and one charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The rapper has maintained his innocence, saying: “I refuse to apologise for something that I did not do.”
Last month, Megan successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling a court that she feared she may be shot again if he were to be released from prison.
She recently won the first round of her legal battle against YouTuber and Lanez supporter Milagro Gramz. Megan had previously alleged that Lanez was harassing her from prison through third-party surrogates.
Megan has opened up about the shooting ordeal in her documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, released last October via Amazon Prime Video.
