South Korean girl group TWICE have released a new remix of Coldplay’s ‘We Pray’ – check it out below.
The track was first released on Chris Martin and co.’s 2024 album ‘Moon Music’ and as of Thursday (April 17), the new version has been made available on streaming platforms.
The new mix was also debuted live at Coldplay’s show in Goyang-si, South Korea on Wednesday (April 16), as part of the Asian leg of the ‘Music Of The Spheres Tour’, where TWICE are serving as the opening act. The K-pop stars joined Coldplay for the performance, alongside Chilean-Palestinian musician Elyanna, who featured on the original track.
Check out the TWICE version of ‘We Pray’ here, as well as footage of the live performance:
TWICE members Nayeon, Jeongeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chawyoung and Tzuyu appear on the mix’s second verse, which translates into English as: “Even if not a single thread of light falls down in the darkness / Even if not a single bit of warmth is given / Even if no one looks at me / May I bloom alone, may I shine through / When dawn arrives / Will we be smiling at the end of that road? / At the edge of the cliff, will we be holding each other? / Tell me the answer / Will we disappear or last forever? / So we just pray”.
It is not the first time that Coldplay have worked alongside K-pop royalty – BTS featured on ‘My Universe’ from ‘Music Of The Spheres’ – and Martin told NME last year that he adopted a love of the genre from his goddaughter.
“It’s not My Bloody Valentine, it’s not indie, but it’s equally great because they’re passionate, driven people working in a way that we couldn’t do,” he said. “We’re lucky that we get to mix it all together.”
NME awarded ‘Moon Music’ four stars, noting: “Resilience might not be the first word you think of when you think of global stadium-fillers, Glastonbury-history-makers Coldplay, but ‘Moon Music’ is an exercise in it nevertheless. The sequel to 2021’s ‘Music Of The Spheres’ – and one of the band’s final records – gently and subtly distils that spirit of weathering any storm, going on a journey from that bleak opening moment to a more accepting, happier ending.”
In other news, Martin recently shared tips for those struggling with depression, including free-form writing and transcendental meditation.
TWICE, meanwhile, confirmed they will be heading on a world tour this year, following their run of six shows opening for Coldplay.
