NME’s latest star of The Cover, Sherelle, has put together an exclusive playlist to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.

The London producer and DJ is on this week’s (April 21) edition of The Cover, a manifestation of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read Sherelle’s profile here, written by Aneesa Ahmed and featuring photography by Sarah Louise Bennett.

Sherelle has curated an exclusive playlist, titled ‘Sherelle Is Feeling Noughties’, to run alongside The Cover, featuring a wealth of dance tracks from that era. The playlist includes songs by the likes of Pariah, Mount Kimbie, Kode9, DJ Rashad, Machinedrum and Addison Groove, among others. Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

Earlier this month (April 9), Sherelle surprise-released her debut album ‘With A Vengeance’ and celebrated the record with the latest edition of her affordable club night, Sherelleland, at London’s Roundhouse. “Clubbing is becoming a luxury, which it shouldn’t have to be,” she told NME of the idea behind the night, where tickets are always just £10. “People just can’t afford to go out anymore. But [with Sherelleland], you can tell a lot of people feel relieved that they had a really good night out.”

The producer – who has been releasing her own music since her 2021 debut EP ‘160 Down The A406’ – also discussed her artistic growth in The Cover. “In terms of a signature Sherelle style, I felt like I needed to hone in on that,” she explained. “I don’t want to make just an atypical jungle tune. I didn’t want to just use breaks for breaks’ sake.”
