The Beths sign to ANTI- to release intricate new single ‘Metal’ and announce 2025 world tour

The Beths have signed to ANTI- and shared an intricate new single called ‘Metal’. Check it out below, along with details of a world tour.

The new track marks the first material to be shared from the New Zealand four-piece – comprising vocalist Elizabeth Stokes, guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and drummer Tristan Deck – since 2023.

It comes as they have recently signed to ANTI-, and made their first new music since the release of 2023’s ‘Expert In A Dying Field (Deluxe)’, the expanded version of their 2022 album.

According to the band, the track comes following a time of rigorous touring and mental health struggles, and explores how the human body carries us through hard times, but can still feel the strain in times of turmoil.

“In some ways ‘Metal’ is a song about being alive and existing in a human body,” Stokes said. “That is something I have been acutely aware of in the last few years, where I have been on what one might call a ‘health journey’.

“For parts of the last few years, I kind of felt like my body was a vehicle that had carried me pretty well thus far but was breaking down, something I had little to no control over,” she added. “I have a hunger and a curiosity for learning about the world around me, and for learning about myself. And despite all the ways that my body feels like a broken machine, I still marvel at the complexity of such a machine.”

“I can hold that knowledge in one hand, and yet with the other hand I can point to my reflection and just be like ‘you are shit’. Or ‘ugly’. Or ‘worthless’. I can reliably respond to any suggestion that I might be able to achieve any small thing with ‘no’. And these are variations of the ‘short word’ referenced in the song.”

In addition to sharing new material, the Beths have confirmed that they will be hitting the road later this year for part of a world tour.

Kicking off in the autumn, the dates commence with eight stops in the UK and Ireland, including shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Dublin and more in September. Towards the end of the month and throughout October, the tour goes into the European leg of dates, featuring stops in France, Denmark, Amsterdam, Berlin, Lisbon and more.

Finally, November and December will see The Beths commence their North American shows. This features gigs in Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn and more.
