fromis_9 have announced their plans to release a new album in June – find out more below.

The group’s new label ASND shared the news this week on social media and an accompanying Naver article. The album’s title has yet to be reveal, and its release date has not yet been made public.

However, the article notes that the record is due for release sometime next month, will contain “a summer vibe”. Additionally, the upcoming album will see the K-pop girl group move forward as a five-piece.

In a chat with Harper’s Bazaar Korea, fromis_9 spoke about the upcoming album, with member Baek Ji-heon saying: “When I think of this album, I think of the image of the ocean that everyone dreams of. You can feel a much freer atmosphere in the title song as well as the b-sides. While maintaining fromis_9’s unique color that has shown songs full of positive vibes, I thought a lot about ‘what new things can we show as a five-member group?’”

The album will mark fromis_9’s first release since all eight members parted ways with longtime label Pledis Entertainment and its parent company, HYBE, following the expirations of their contracts in December last year. Prior to that, fromis_9 released one last song under the label titled ‘From’.

The band’s transformation from an eight-member group to a five-piece was first teased in March via new label ASND. Simply captioned ‘fromis_9’, the video featured monochrome video clips of the five singers as they pose for a photoshoot, overlayed with audio snippets of their own voices as they talk about their hopes for new beginnings.

The group’s five remaining members are: Song Ha-young, Park Ji-won, Lee Na-kyung, Lee Chae-young and Baek Ji-heon.

fromis_9 were formed in 2017 through the reality TV show Idol School and debuted in January 2018 with their first mini-album ‘To.Heart’ under Stone Music Entertainment. The group joined Pledis Entertainment in August 2021 following a change in management.
