Zara Larsson has seemingly called out Katy Perry for working with Dr. Luke.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Swedish popstar spoke about the producer’s public return to music following his lengthy legal battle with Kesha.

Kesha first accused Dr. Luke of emotional abuse and sexual assault in 2014. Dr. Luke denied the allegations and countersued Kesha, claiming she had breached the recording contract they had with one another and made up rape allegations in an attempt to get out of the deal. They settled their lawsuit in 2023, with Dr. Luke stating: “I am absolutely certain that nothing happened.”

Now Larsson, who was formerly signed to his label Kemosabe Records, has spoken out about his recent return to pop. “I’m like, why?” she began. “There’s a million other people. Is it really, really important for him to come back? I don’t think so.”

Though Dr. Luke has continued to produce music since Kesha’s first lawsuit, it appears that Larsson may be referencing his work on Katy Perry’s recent album ‘143’. She added that she “personally wouldn’t do it because what is he gonna do for me or for anyone else?”.

“I think that the most powerful thing you can do is to actually put your money where your mouth is and work with women”, Larsson concluded. “So I think that’s way more powerful than writing a feminist anthem with someone who is not really standing for those values.”

Larsson recently released her brash new single ‘Pretty Ugly’ in April, and will soon release her latest album ‘Midnight Sun’ on September 26 via Sommer House and Epic Records.

She will soon accompany Tate McRae on her extensive North American tour in August and September. Tickets are on sale now; find yours here and see full dates below:
