Yungblud has revealed the musical legends that would make up his all-time dream rock band line-up – find out who he picked below.
The Doncaster singer – real name Dominic Harrison – recently appeared on the Lipps Service podcast where he was asked who he would pick from rock history to make up his ideal supergroup.
On lead guitar, Yungblud picked The Smiths’ Johnny Marr, who he explained would be his choice because “it would be so melodic”, while AC/DC’s Malcolm Young would be on rhythm guitar, “because he’s such an underrated rhythm guitar player”.
He also went for a powerful rhythm section – Mani of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream would be on bass (“he’s got that funk that’s underrated,” Yungblud argued), while Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham would be behind the drumkit. “100 per cent no question about it,” he explained. “Him and Keith Moon are my favourites”.
As for lead vocals, Yungblud will be sharing the duties with Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and David Bowie, “because fuck it, it’d be fucking crazy”.
Yungblud also picked Adam Wakeman on keyboards, “just because I love him and he makes me feel safe, especially in the past couple fucking weeks on these massive performances that we’ve done.”
One of the gigs in question were the poignant final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham in July, where Yungblud was joined by Wakeman – who is the son of rock legend Rick – as well as Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt on guitar and Sleep Token’s II on drums for a version of Sabbath’s ‘Changes’.
Yungblud also led a band included Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry for a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the 2025 MTV VMAs, playing ‘Crazy Train’ and ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’.
The performance ended up drawing criticism from some, including The Darkness’ Dan Hawkins, who called it “another nail in the coffin of rock n roll”, and his brother Justin, who described it as “rock n roll seen through an Instagram filter of some sort”.
Yungblud responded to those comments, saying: “When people try and intellectualise a sense of spirit and six musicians on a stage going fucking love you man, it’s just bitter and jealous.”
The Yungblud-Aerosmith collaboration has continued as they are now preparing to release the ‘One More Time’ EP on November 21. Featuring four original tracks co-written by the two artists, they have already shared the lead single ‘My Only Angel’, the first new Aerosmith material in over 12 years. Pre-order the EP here.
