The moment took place as Linkin Park took to the stage at Vive Claro in Bogotá, Colombia over the weekend (Saturday, October 25), kicking off the first of their shows scheduled for South America.

The dates come as part of their ongoing world tour, which celebrates the release of 2024’s ‘From Zero’ – their first since the passing of frontman Chester Bennington and features Emily Armstrong as frontwoman.

At the opening night of the South American leg, the band broke their set into four acts, opening with ‘Somewhere I Belong’, ‘Points of Authority’, ‘Up From the Bottom’, ‘Crawling’ and ‘The Emptiness Machine’.

It was in the second act, where they broke out a rendition of ‘One Step Closer’, and invited Poppy out for a surprise collaboration.

The singer has been lined-up as support for all of the South American dates planned, and on the night she came out to join Mike Shinoda and co. for the fan-favourite track.

She took on the heavier parts, singing “‘Cause I’m one step closer to the edge / And I’m about to break”, while Armstrong took on the cleaner part of the chorus, singing “Everything that you say to me”.

As well as playing other songs from their latest album, including ‘Heavy Is the Crown’, ‘Stained’, ‘Overflow’ and ‘Over Each Other’, Linkin Park also broke out older fan favourites like ‘Numb’ and ‘The Catalyst’. They also broke out a cover of Shinoda’s hip-hop side project, Fort Minor, playing ‘Where’d You Go’.

Check out the full setlist from the night below, along with more footage from the night.

When Linkin Park announced their comeback, Shinoda opened up about the “culture” of the new Linkin Park line-up, saying it feels like the “best we’ve had”.

As well as Armstrong joining the line-up, drummer Colin Brittain has also joined the band, following the departure of founding member Rob Bourdon. Founding guitarist Brad Delson is also absent from the group’s comeback tour, but is still working with them on new music.

While some fans were divided over the comeback following Bennington’s death, as the band started the live shows, Shinoda explained that this version of Linkin Park was “not about erasing the past”.

As for Poppy, the singer recently spoke to NME alongside Evanescence‘s Amy Lee, and Spiritbox‘s Courtney LaPlante, about their ground-breaking new collaborative track ‘End Of You’.

That track originated from an idea between Poppy and former Bring Me The Horizon member turned go-to metal producer Jordan Fish,. The two had also worked together on Poppy’s latest album ‘Negative Spaces’.

“I knew he was friends with Amy, and I thought she would really be a great person to meet and get to talk to,” Poppy told NME, sharing how the plan arose. “It was mine and Jordan’s idea to start with, and then we thought, ‘What if we made our version of a dark Moulin Rouge, like ‘Lady Marmalade’?”
