The band recently played a stripped-back session for US radio station SiriusXM in support of their new album, ‘Everybody Scream’, which was released today (Friday October 31).
F+TM swapped the synth-y, electro-pop elements of the original song for a more organic sound, consisting of flute, harp and violin. The band also delivered a rendition of their latest single ‘Sympathy Magic’.
Welch previously collaborated with Gaga on the song ‘Hey Girl’ from the latter’s 2016 album ‘Joanne’. Speaking about the team-up that year, Gaga said: “She’s really to me, if not the best, but one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s incredible.”
“The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death,” she said in a recent interview. “And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming.”

She has also touched on delving into spiritual mysticism and folk horror – understanding the limits of her body and questioning what it meant to be “healed”. These are themes that helped shape the record, along with exploration of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying.
