The NFL has announced the halftime performers who’ll appear at their Thanksgiving games, with Jack White, Post Malone, and Lil Jon among them.
The festivities will kick off next Thursday (November 27) with the traditional Detroit Lions game. Per Rolling Stone, The Lions will host the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field in Detroit, where former White Stripes frontman and Detroit native White will headline the halftime festivities.
Fellow hometown hero Eminem will executive-produce the halftime event alongside his manager, Paul Rosenberg White, which follows their signing of a multi-year partnership with the Lions to executive-produce the team’s Thanksgiving halftime shows from 2025 through 2027.
As for Malone, the ‘I Had Some Help’ singer will hit the halftime stage when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Kansas City Chiefs at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Announcing the news with a joint Instagram post with the team, he shared a video of himself driving a truck into Dallas while donning a Cowboys jacket.
“I’m from Texas. I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years,” Malone said in a statement. “It’s a real honor to be part of the Red Kettle Kickoff with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys and help bring hope to so many people.”
Lil Jon is set to perform the halftime show when the Baltimore Ravens host the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, with Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry taking on the national anthem at the game, per an announcement from the Ravens last week.
As for White’s support of other sports, this year has seen him complete a “longtime mission” of watching a baseball match at every Major League stadium. His love for the game has been well documented over the years, attending Cubs vs Dodgers baseball game alongside Bill Murray and wearing a jersey gifted to him by Eddie Vedder in Japan earlier this year.
Prior to that, in 2022, he performed the US national anthem before a Detroit Tigers’ baseball game against the Chicago White Sox, and had previously thrown the ceremonial first pitch at a Detroit Tigers baseball match at Tigers’ Comerica Park and he invested in a baseball bat company.
Elsewhere, White once donated $170,000 (£127,997) to help restore a Detroit baseball park he used to play in, he took part in a celebrity baseball match at the University of North Alabama and appeared on a set of Topps baseball cards.
In the past, he revealed that one of his pre-stage rituals before he performs was working himself “up into a frenzy” backstage “with a baseball bat breaking things”. He also once released a song at a Detroit Tigers baseball game.
