The Cure have released the trailer for their live movie The Show of a Lost World as cinema tickets go on sale – find out how to snag yours below.

One year ago, The Cure played their new album ‘Songs Of A Lost Worldto an intimate crowd of 3,000 at London’s Troxy on the night of its release. The star-studded crowd included Green Day‘s Billie Joe ArmstrongRadiohead‘s Ed O’BrienBoy George, actor Pedro Pascal and many others.

Then, at the beginning of this month, The Cure revealed they had filmed a live movie of the night. The film will hit cinemas worldwide from December 11, with a physical Blu-Ray and DVD release following later in the month.

Directed by the Grammy-nominated Nick Wickham, The Show Of A Lost World has additionally been remixed, recut, and 4K remastered by frontman Robert Smith himself.

Now, you can watch the trailer for the whopping 31-song set at The Troxy below. The film includes the entirety of ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ live, the band’s greatest hits, and five songs from their sophomore album ‘Seventeen Seconds’ to celebrate the record’s 45th anniversary. Word of the concert film spread when the band teased the movie in their website bio – along with hopes for a new album.

The bio confirmed that Smith went “back into the studio to help re-edit and re-mix The Show Of A Lost World film” shortly after his surprise Glastonbury appearance during Olivia Rodrigo’s headline set.

The legendary goth-rockers went on to confirm that they “went back into Rockfield Studios to record 13 more songs for a follow up album” in March 2025 – a record which Smith has been hinting at for over a year.

Just before the release of ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, he told Matt Everitt that a second album was “virtually finished”, and going on to say a third was in the works too. “The third one is a bit more difficult because, well if we get that far… Talking about the third album, you see what I mean? I just can’t help myself.”

We gave ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ a five-star review when it dropped, with NME writing: “Merciless? Yes, but there’s always enough heart in the darkness and opulence in the sound to hold you and place these songs alongside The Cure’s finest.

“The frontman suggested that another two records may be arriving at some point, but ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ feels sufficient enough for the wait we’ve endured, just for being arguably the most personal album of Smith’s career. Mortality may loom, but there’s colour in the black and flowers on the grave.”

Elsewhere, The Twilight Sad have returned the brooding and intense single ‘Waiting For The Phone Call’ featuring Smith.
