Megan Thee Stallion turned down ‘Call Of Duty’ collab following Tory Lanez shooting

Megan Thee Stallion reportedly turned down a collaboration with Call Of Duty after she was shot by Tory Lanez.

In 2022, Lanez was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion following a party held at Kylie Jenner’s house in the summer of 2020. He was found guilty of one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle and one charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence. In 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Despite being convicted, Lanez has maintained his innocence. Drake, Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Amber Rose, Trippie Redd, Kodak Black and more have all signed a petition asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon him.

Earlier this week, Roc Nation’s Senior Vice President Of Branding & Strategic Partnerships Daniel Kinney gave evidence as part of Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation case against blogger Milagro Gramz. He said (via journalist Meghann Cuniff) that Megan “ditched Call Of Duty when she learned she would be a shootable character in the game.”

It was later claimed that the collaboration was then offered to Nicki Minaj after Megan Thee Stallion turned it down due to “PTSD”.

Megan opened up about the shooting in her documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words. She also issued a “final” response to the incident in 2023, reflecting on the “humiliation” she faced from the public when coming forward with the claims and saying people treated her trauma “like a running joke”.

Nicki Minaj became a playable character in 2023’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 via a special ‘Tracer Pack’ but the collab was heavily criticised by fans. Earlier this year, Battlefield 6 released a trailer that mocked Call Of Duty’s celebrity skins and a planned ‘Carry Forward’ feature for Black Ops 7 was scrapped due to backlash.

In other news, Rob Mac will co-create a live-action adaptation of hit video game series Far Cry alongside Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth, Fargo). The It’s Always Sunny… actor will also star in the anthology show.
