Labrinth has teamed up with The Game Awards for a funky remix of iconic Sonic The Hedgehog track ‘Marble Zone’.

In recent years, super producer Labrinth has scored the soundtrack to HBO’s Euphoria  and teamed up with Måneskin frontman Damiano David for debut solo single ‘Silverlines’. Yesterday (December 11) he surprised fans with a cover of Marble Zone, an iconic theme from the original Sonic The Hedgehog game.

“Sonic was such a formative part of my gaming upbringing that making a Spotify Single with Sonic at the heart was an amazing opportunity,” he explained.

The track is one of three special songs released as part of a collaboration with The Game Awards. Buzzy guitar hero Bilmuri reworked Cyberpunk 2077 anthem ‘I Really Want To Stay At Your House’ while Evanescence teamed up with Gunship for a brooding reworking of their Devil May Cry anthem ‘Afterlife’.

“We’ve been looking for an excuse to work with Gunship for too long and couldn’t be more excited about this dark new version of ‘Afterlife’. Being a part of the Devil May Cry series has been an honour and too much fun,” said Amy Lee.

“Gaming has always been a huge part of my life, and recording a track based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a super-cool experience. Some of my strongest memories of music come from the games I play, and I wanted to convey that energy with this track,” added Bilmuri’s Johnny Franck.

“The Game Awards is such a big celebration of gaming culture, and we felt it was the perfect moment to celebrate the composers, artists, and soundtracks that make video games so immersive,” said Spotify’s Alex Freeman. “Video game music is the heartbeat of our industry, and partnering with Spotify lets us celebrate it on the world’s biggest audio stage,” added The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley. “We’re thrilled to have Spotify lean in like this to not only celebrate but also amplify and accelerate the appreciation of some of this year’s best video game music.”

Last month, Bowling For Soup shared an updated take on their Sonic Unleashed anthem ‘Endless Possibility’ with a little help from Wheatus and Punk Rock Factory.

In other news, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won big at The Game Awards 2025 and broke a record set by The Last Of Us Part Two in the process.
