Brandon Flowers joined Dawes to perform songs by The Killers and Bruce Springsteen at a benefit concert. Watch the footage below.
The appearance took place at last night’s (Wednesday January 7) ‘A Concert For Altadena‘, organised by Dawes to raise money for the victims of last year’s Eaton Fire.
Taking place on the anniversary of the catastrophe, the all-star benefit concert was put on to support “long-term housing recovery and relief for families, small businesses, and first responders” impacted by the blaze.
Flowers joined Dawes towards the end of the set, first performing his own hit, ‘When You Were Young’, before they all launched into a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Promised Land’. Check it out below.
The gig opened with a cover of Randy Newman‘s ‘I Love L.A.’, featuring country singer Brad Paisley. Aloe Blacc also appeared to perform a version of Avicii‘s ‘Wake Me Up’, while Stephen Stills took on Buffalo Springfield‘s ‘For What It’s Worth’, and Rufus Wainwright performed The Beatles‘ ‘Across the Universe’.
Lord Huron also came on stage to play The Kinks ‘Strangers’, while other appearances came from Lucius, Eric Kranso, Jenny Lewis, and Mandy Moore.
The concert wrapped up with all the guest performers joining Dawes for a rendition of The Beatles ‘With a Little Help From My Friends’. See clips below.
The gig comes after Dawes’ drummer Griffin Goldsmith lost his home in the fires, while guitarist Taylor Goldsmith lost his nearby recording studio and its decades’ worth of musical gear.
In other news, Flowers recently revealed that a new The Killers album will be released in 2027, following his two upcoming solo albums.
“My best guess is that in 2027 you will get the best Killers record,” he said of the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Pressure Machine’.
