K-pop girl group IVE have teamed up with French DJ David Guetta on a brand-new single ‘Supernova Love’.
Released today (November 8), IVE and Guetta unveiled the single as part of The Collab X’s new ‘Collab’ series. ‘Supernova Love’ notably samples the late Ryuichi Sakamoto’s instrumental single ‘Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence’ from the 1983 film of the same name.
In its accompanying music video, the girl group travel through space and time, dancing to the new single as the stars twinkle in the galaxy behind them. “Oh babe, I need that kind of love / A supernova glowing the dark / Forever, I wished upon a star / Then you came over / Occupied my heart, occupied my heart,” they sing on the chorus.
IVE previously performed the song at their Tokyo Dome concert in Japan back in September. ‘Supernova Love’ is their second English-language track after their January single ‘All Night’ featuring Saweetie. That track was notably a remake of Swedish synth-pop duo Icona Pop’s 2013 single of the same name.
Meanwhile, their last Korean-language release was their April mini-album ‘IVE Switch’, which was led by the singles ‘HEYA’ and ‘Accendio’. Back in September, the girl group also wrapped up their ‘Show What I Have’ world tour, which began in October 2023.
In other K-pop news, singer-songwriter BIBI is set to return with two new singles, ‘Derre’ and ‘Burn It’ featuring DEAN next week. It will be her first release since her single album ‘Bam Yang Gang’ in February, which was later named by NME as one of the best K-pop songs of 2024 so far.
