G-Dragon has made his long-awaited comeback with the album ‘Übermensch’, which dropped alongside a music video for the single ‘Too Bad’, starring aespa’s Karina and featuring Anderson .Paak.
‘Übermensch’ is G-Dragon’s third studio album overall and his first body of work in seven years, since the 2017 EP ‘Kwon Ji -Yong’. It’s also his first release under Galaxy Corporation and American record label EMPIRE, which he signed with after leaving longtime label YG Entertainment in 2023.
“‘Übermensch’ means ‘Beyond-Man,’ representing an individual who transcends themselves. This album embodies the idea of presenting a stronger and more resilient version of oneself to the public. I hope this strength resonates with my fans through my music,” G-Dragon said of the new record in a press release.
Most notably, ‘Übermensch’ also includes two of the rapper’s 2024 singles: ‘Power’ and ‘Home Sweet Home’, the latter of which features his Big Bang bandmates Taeyang and Daesung.
‘Übermensch’ dropped alongside two music videos, for the songs ‘Drama’ and ‘Too Bad’. The latter is notably a collaboration with Anderson .Paak, who also appears in the clip, which also features an appearance from aespa’s Karina.
In support of the new album, G-Dragon is set to embark on his first world tour in eight years in 2025. He will also be joining Asian-American music label 88rising’s Head In The Clouds Festival in Los Angeles this May as a headliner, billed as his “exclusive 2025 North American festival performance”.
G-Dragon debuted as the leader of YG Entertainment boyband Big Bang in 2006. He later launched his solo career in 2009 with his studio album ‘Heartbreaker’, which was followed by the EP ‘One of a Kind’ and album ‘Coup d’Etat’. These subsequent releases spawned hits like ‘Crayon’, ‘That XX’ and ‘Crooked’.
