Dua Lipa covered Natalie Imbruglia‘s ‘Torn’ at her second concert in Melbourne last night (March 18).
Returning to the Rod Laver Arena for her second show, the pop star huddled with her band on the b-stage to perform the Australian singer’s 1997 hit in the early part of her set, sandwiched between ‘These Walls’ and ‘Maria’. You can view footage below.
It followed her performance of AC/DC‘s ‘Highway To Hell’ at the venue earlier this week.
The show was her second of five nights at the venue which wraps up on March 23.
The pop star will hit the road in the UK this summer, kicking off the run with two huge concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21) followed by two dates at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 24 and 25. Prior to those dates, she’ll be touring across Europe performing in Paris, Belgium, Milan, Amsterdam and more. Visit here for Europe tickets, here for UK tickets
Last month she announced a special re-release of ‘Future Nostalgia’ in celebration of its fifth anniversary. The vinyl set will be released on March 28, almost exactly five years after the album first dropped. The original LP’s release was originally meant to be April 3 but was brought forward by a week, coinciding with the beginning of the first COVID-19 lockdown. The album was also leaked, which influenced the decision to move it forward.
Elsewhere, Imbruglia, previously opened up about her struggles on the set of her ‘Torn’ video, admitting that she refused to wear a dress in the clip to her ’90s hit because she was “so body dysmorphic and insecure”. She ended up donning army pants in the video.
“My intention in wearing that was so that you couldn’t see my silhouette, because I didn’t want anyone to see,” Imbruglia said. “But it ended up that there was a power in that because it was like [seen as] androgyny cool.
“But it really came from a place of ‘thank god I don’t have to wear a dress!’”
