Morgan Wallen has explained his infamous Saturday Night Live exit.
The country singer caused confusion when he appeared on the show as musical guest last March – but abruptly left the stage before the show ended.
Wallen, who is based in Nashville, Tennessee, then posted an Instagram Story with a picture of his private jet and a caption that read “Get me to God’s country”.
Now, Wallen has explained the reasons for his sudden exit. During an appearance on podcast Sundae Conversations, host Caleb Pressly asked Wallen why he left the stage, saying: “Seriously? Did they make you mad?”
In response, Wallen said: “No, no, I was just ready to go home,” adding: “I been there all week.”

Longtime cast member Kenan Thompson commented on Wallen’s exit, saying: “I don’t know what goes through people’s minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don’t know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way”.
He joked that he “thought maybe he had to go to the potty or something.”
Since then, Wallen has sold merchandise inspired by his SNL walkoff, whilst SNL mocked the singer in a skit twice in an episode.
In one instance during Colin Jost’s Weekend Update segment, the comedian said: “This was the worst week for the stock market since the summer of 2020. But you have to remember, back then the president was also Trump. Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnight.”
In other news, Lana Del Rey has debuted a new country song featuring a diss at Morgan Wallen: “I kissed Morgan Wallen/I guess kissing me kind of went to his head/If you want my secret to success, don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west.”
