Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes and partner Alissic have announced that they are expecting twins.
The married couple revealed the news in an Instagram video on Sunday (May 11), which Sykes captioned “dois”, the word for “two” in Alissic’s native Portuguese.
The video proves to be a gender reveal announcement, with the couple sitting at a table in their home, each with a cupcake in a cardboard takeout box. Alissic is the first to take her cake out, telling the camera: “This is twin one, genuine”. Giggling nervously, she bites into the cake, revealing a pink filling. “Fucking hell, we’re having a baby girl!” Sykes says, as he hugs his wife.
Sykes then bites into his cupcake, revealing a blue filling. The couple both scream, with Sykes repeatedly saying, “No fucking way”. As Alissic wipes away tears, Sykes tucks back into the cake, adding, “It’s really tasty, too.”
Brazilian model and alt-pop singer Alissic – real name Alissa Salls – and BMTH vocalist and lyricist Sykes, married in 2017 after having met when she was working on a project for his Drop Dead Clothing Line.
Sykes revealed last month that he was back in the studio, sharing two images of himself in a recording space.
Bring Me The Horizon are set to headline Reading & Leeds 2025, and Sykes told NME last December that they have “a few more songs” ready for the shows. That followed previous teases that there are songs as part of ‘Nex Gen: Director’s Cut’ that he would like to release.
The band have also announced a North American arena tour for autumn 2025 – see all the dates here – and they will also appear at Louder Than Life festival in the US in September. Those shows follow slots at Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in June.
The Sheffield band released their seventh and latest studio album, ‘Post Human: Nex Gen’, last May. It was later named as one of NME‘s best albums of 2024, and praised for “set[ting] new bars for modern metal”.
Speaking to NME at the BRITs 2025 earlier this year, Sykes explained that BMTH needed to take some time off “at some point, it’s just about finding that time”. He continued: “I think we need to go away for a bit, but it’s hard because there is always so much we want to do and so many places we want to tour.”
Sykes added: “I think it’ll be good for us because it feels like we’ve been around since the first ‘Post Human’ [2020’s EP ‘Survival Horror’]… We’ve not gone away.”
Alissic, meanwhile, spoke to NME earlier this year about her hypnotic new single ‘Concrete’, her first new music since 2022. She revealed the track is part of a new EP that she intends to release this spring via CLASSII Records. Watch the song’s video above.
