Strange Basin 06 with Anthony
Sheryl Crow has said she dealt with an armed intruder who trespassed onto her property after she sold her Tesla.
In an interview with Variety, Crow opened up on the response to her video in February where she showed her Tesla being sold and towed away in protest against Elon Musk.
Previously, she told the magazine, Crow has ruffled feathers by releasing her 1996 song ‘Love Is A Good Thing’, which criticised Walmart for stocking guns. “When I came out against Walmart carrying guns [in a 1996 song], not everybody was armed — and certainly I didn’t live in Tennessee, where everybody is armed,” she said.
However, Crow felt the incident with the armed intruder was “different”. “There was a moment where I actually really felt very afraid: A man got on my property, in my barn, who was armed,” she shared. “It doesn’t feel safe when you’re dealing with people who are so committed.”
That being said, Crow said she didn’t regret posting the video, saying: “I can’t help it. I feel like I’m fighting for my kids. Also, that’s the way I was raised. There have been times when it hasn’t really been fun, but I follow my Atticus Finch dad; I’m very similar to him if I see something that seems unfair, you know?”
When Crow announced she was selling her Tesla, she captioned the video: “My parents always said… you are who you hang out with. There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.”
She went on to say she would donate the funds to NPR, which she said “under threat” from Tesla CEO Elon Musk – or as Crow called him, “President Musk”.
The comments come amidst Musk’s appointment as the head of the newly created Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) since Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. Musk has previously called for the defunding of NPR, reasoning that “it should survive on its own”, according to a tweet made in February 4.
Elsewhere, Crow recently joined Ringo Starr and others at the former Beatle’s livestreamed show in Nashville in January. They played ‘Yellow Submarine’ and ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ together, alongside Jack White.
She has also been announced for this year’s Boston Calling Festival, along with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Luke Combs and Dave Matthews Band. The event goes down from May 23 to 25, and you can find any remaining tickets here.
